International Women’s Day 2023 celebrations
OWLI BURUNDI celebrated the International Women's rights Day (IWD 2023) together with its beneficiaries, thanks to the support from the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF).
Under AWDF funding, YOWLI BURUNDI is currently conducting policy advocacy programme on young women domestic workers’ rights in Burundi. The programme continues to receive great local support by policymakers and beneficiaries and is therefore proving successful.
To mark the IWD 2023, YOWLI BURUNDI organized an open day gathering some of its beneficiary young women domestic workers. The celebrations were marked by exchange of ideas to reflect on domestic workers rights, the domestic worker advocacy milestones as well key achievements policy wise, and what could the likely successful next steps entail. Domestic female workers spoke up with happiness and thanked YOWLI BURUNDI for the great works. Journalists including social media recorded beautiful stories among which one is accessible below.
We thank all those who support our programmes.
Particularly AWDF through its Leading From the South (LFS) programme.
