Supervision of the 12 surveillance site sentinels

Early August 2025, YOWLI BURUNDI, ABREMA, PEV, and INSP carried out a supervision to enquire the state of pharmacovigilance and provide supportive constructive feedback to the 12 surveillance site sentinels. Three teams were deployed and each team was accompanied by the district supervisor or pharmacovigilance focal point. Each surveillance site sentinel visit was preceded by a brief discussion with the health district director about the SLL-Pharmacovigilance project. We found that healthcare providers were able to correctly notify though they mentioned a lack of community awareness as some adverse effects they report are sometimes secondary to the routine preventive or curative care. This witnesses the importance of the materials IEC we distributed and the audiovisual spot under dissemination process.
